We Don't Make
Gear for Everyone.

We make competition powerlifting equipment for athletes who train like every session is a meet. That's a smaller market. We're fine with that.
01

Spec-First
Engineering

Every product starts with the IPF rulebook, not a market research deck. 7mm neoprene, 30cm length, true anatomical L/R cut โ€” the specification determines the product, not the other way around.

Honest
Pricing

Premium brands charge for logos. We charge for materials and construction. Our sleeve is built to the same specification as gear that costs $145. We sell it for $69. That gap is the business model.

03

Built
to Last

Competition gear needs to survive years of heavy training. NBR/SBR neoprene, flatlock triple-reinforced stitching, and a silicone grip system rated for serious load โ€” not just the first hundred reps.

The Science Behind
Every Sleeve.

Competition gear doesn't happen by accident. Here's exactly what makes our 7mm knee sleeves different โ€” and why every technical decision we made matters under load.

7mm
NBR/SBR Neoprene Blend

The 7mm standard isn't arbitrary โ€” it represents the maximum compression depth permitted by the IPF, chosen because it's the sweet spot between meaningful compression support and the range of motion a powerlifter needs through a full squat. Our blend combines nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) with styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) in a proprietary ratio that outperforms standard single-compound SBR sleeves in three critical areas: thermal retention (keeping the joint warmer longer into a working set), compression durability (maintaining stiffness over hundreds of sessions instead of softening within months), and odor resistance. Budget sleeves use 100% SBR because it's cheaper. We don't.

L/R
True Anatomical Construction

The human knee does not flex in a straight plane. As the joint extends, the tibia externally rotates โ€” meaning the inside and outside of the knee follow different arcs through a squat. A symmetrical neoprene tube ignores this completely, creating uneven compression that's too tight in some areas and too loose in others. Our anatomical left/right pattern is cut and shaped to match the actual contour of a knee at full depth, distributing pressure across the medial compartment and the patellar tendon โ€” the structures under greatest stress during heavy squats. The difference is most pronounced at the bottom of the lift, where anatomical sleeves feel locked-in and symmetrical sleeves create a twisting pressure that throws off tracking.

3D
Honeycomb Silicone Inner Grip

Keeping a sleeve in position during a max squat attempt is a mechanical problem most manufacturers solve with a flat silicone strip around the top edge โ€” better than bare neoprene, but insufficient under serious load. When you squat heavy, your skin and the underlying tissue move independently of the sleeve material, especially through the range of motion. A flat strip resists this by friction alone; it will slip when the forces exceed its static grip threshold. Our 3D honeycomb structure creates dozens of individual raised contact points that mechanically interlock with skin texture, engaging grip in multiple axes simultaneously. The raised geometry also creates micro air channels that prevent the seal-off effect that causes overheating during long training sessions. This is why our sleeves don't migrate between attempts โ€” it's not marketing. It's contact mechanics.

ร—3
Triple Flatlock Stitching

The seams of a knee sleeve fail before the neoprene does. During a heavy squat, the sleeve is being stretched in multiple directions under significant tension โ€” the seam at the rear of the knee alone is under forces that would split a standard overlocked seam within months of regular use. Triple flatlock stitching distributes this force across three parallel rows of thread, dramatically increasing the load each seam can absorb before failure. Critically, the flat construction of the stitch keeps the seam flush with the sleeve surface โ€” there's no raised ridge that creates a stress concentration point where material failure begins. Combined with our anti-curl binding at the sleeve edges (which prevents the ends from rolling up under compression), this construction ensures the sleeve holds its shape and its compression properties over the long term. We've seen competitors' sleeves delaminate and come apart in under a year of serious training. Ours won't.

How to size knee sleeves
Buying Guide
How to Size Your Knee Sleeves Correctly

Getting the right size is the single most common mistake powerlifters make when buying knee sleeves. Too loose and you lose compression and joint support. Too tight and you restrict blood flow and limit your range of motion. Here's the exact measurement method we recommend โ€” taken 10cm above the kneecap while standing โ€” and why the measurement point matters more than most brands explain in their size charts. We also break down whether to size up or down based on your primary use case: daily training vs. competition max effort.

IPF Equipment Rules: What's Approved

Federation equipment rules are more specific โ€” and change more often โ€” than most lifters realize. The difference between approved and not approved can come down to sleeve length (30cm maximum), material thickness (7mm maximum), and the presence of any structural reinforcement beyond neoprene. Before your next meet, know what your equipment check will involve. We cover current IPF technical rules for knee sleeves, powerlifting belts, and wrist wraps โ€” including the details most commonly missed at the weigh-in table. Note that USAPL, USPA, and GPC rules differ in important ways.

Breaking in knee sleeves
Training Tips
Breaking In 7mm Sleeves: A Protocol

New 7mm knee sleeves feel impossibly tight. That's not a defect โ€” it's the neoprene at full density, before the material has adapted to the shape of your knee. The break-in period is real, and how you manage it determines whether your sleeves reach optimal performance by meet day or whether you're still fighting them. We recommend a structured 3โ€“4 week break-in protocol starting with lower-intensity sessions and shorter wear periods, gradually increasing load and duration. Use a plastic bag over your foot and shin to slide the sleeve on while they're stiff โ€” this technique alone prevents most of the frustration lifters experience with new competition sleeves.

No Compromises.

We build for one type of athlete: the competitive powerlifter who refuses to accept equipment that doesn't perform at the same level they do. Here's what that commitment looks like in practice.

Federation Approved
IPF approval isn't a bonus feature โ€” it's our baseline. Every Panther Athletics product meets the equipment standards for IPF, USAPL, USPA, and GPC sanctioned competition. Approval means the equipment has been tested against the technical rulebook, not just submitted. You can step onto the platform with confidence that your gear will pass the equipment check every time.
Maximum Compression
7mm NBR/SBR neoprene delivers powerful, consistent compression and joint warmth that holds through maximal loads. The NBR/SBR blend maintains its compression properties significantly longer than single-compound SBR alternatives โ€” the difference becomes obvious six to twelve months into regular training, when cheaper sleeves have lost their spring and ours still feel like day one. Compression isn't just about support; it's about proprioceptive feedback and thermal retention that directly affects performance.
Built to Last
Triple flatlock stitching, anti-curl binding, and a 3D silicone inner grip that doesn't degrade. We've seen competitors' sleeves delaminate at the seams, lose their silicone grip strips, and soften to the point of uselessness within a year of serious training. Our construction is designed for the long haul โ€” the kind of durability you need when you're training five days a week, year-round, and competing every quarter. Proper care extends the lifespan significantly; our care guide explains exactly how.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before you buy โ€” and after. If your question isn't here, email us at support@pantheratletics.com.

Yes. Panther Athletics 7mm knee sleeves are approved for IPF, USAPL, USPA, and GPC sanctioned competition. They meet the maximum specification permitted by the IPF โ€” 7mm thickness and 30cm length. Always confirm with your meet director as equipment rules can vary slightly by federation, lifting style, and weight class. We recommend carrying your sleeve packaging to the equipment check as proof of approval.

Measure the circumference of your thigh 10cm (4 inches) above your kneecap while standing. S: 30โ€“33cm, M: 33โ€“36cm, L: 36โ€“40cm, XL: 40โ€“43cm, XXL: 43โ€“46cm. If you're between sizes, size up โ€” a tighter sleeve delivers more compression and you'll appreciate the fit once it's broken in. When in doubt, email us your measurement and we'll recommend the right size.

Completely normal. New 7mm sleeves require a break-in period of 3โ€“5 sessions. They'll feel stiff and tight at first โ€” this is the neoprene at full density, before it has adapted to the shape of your knee. After break-in, they become easier to put on while maintaining full support during lifts. Use a plastic bag over your foot and shin to slide the sleeve on while they're new โ€” this trick makes the process much easier and prevents the frustration most lifters experience with new competition sleeves.

For powerlifting โ€” always 7mm. The extra thickness provides significantly more compression, warmth, and elastic rebound assistance at the bottom of the squat. 5mm sleeves suit Olympic weightlifting (where mobility demands are higher) or general fitness training. If you compete in a powerlifting federation, use 7mm โ€” it's the maximum competition specification for a reason. Our sleeves are 7mm only, because that's the standard serious powerlifting requires.

Hand wash in cold water with mild soap after each use, or as needed. Do not machine wash โ€” the agitation and heat break down neoprene cell structure over time, accelerating compression loss. Lay flat or hang to air dry โ€” never use a dryer or expose to direct heat sources. Store flat or loosely rolled, not compressed. Air them out between sessions โ€” wet, compressed neoprene degrades faster and develops odor. Proper care can extend the functional lifespan of your sleeves by years.

30-day hassle-free returns on all unused items in original condition. If you received the wrong size, changed your mind, or just want to try a different size, email support@pantheratletics.com and we'll arrange the return. Size exchanges are always free โ€” we'll cover the shipping both ways. Returns are processed within 3โ€“5 business days of receipt. We don't think you should pay to find the right size, so we make it easy to exchange.

All orders ship within 1โ€“2 business days from our US warehouse. Standard shipping: 3โ€“5 business days (domestic US). Expedited shipping is available at checkout if you're close to a meet and need gear quickly. Free standard shipping applies to all orders โ€” no minimum purchase required. International shipping is available; delivery times vary by destination (typically 7โ€“14 business days). You'll receive tracking information via email as soon as your order ships.

Each order includes one pair of knee sleeves (one left-specific + one right-specific sleeve in your selected size), a mesh carry bag for transport and storage, a printed sizing reference card, and detailed care instructions. The $69 price is per pair โ€” you receive both sleeves. The left and right sleeves are labeled clearly; always put the correct sleeve on the correct knee for proper anatomical compression alignment.

Absolutely โ€” and we encourage it. Many competitive lifters use one pair for daily training and keep a second pair reserved for competition, keeping the competition pair stiffer and fresher. But our construction is designed for daily training durability, not just meet-day performance. The 7mm NBR/SBR neoprene maintains compression over hundreds of sessions when properly cared for. Training in your competition sleeves also means you're fully adapted to them on meet day โ€” no surprises about how they feel at depth.
